Manage All Your Expenses With One Updated App

Pledging to be more organized in the New Year? An update to Manilla, an online service and app that helps you organize bills and subscriptions, added a custom accounts feature. This allows Manilla users to manage nearly any account through the site. Now customers can create accounts for small businesses or individuals, like dog walkers and babysitters, for instance.
The company also updated its iOS app, including a new design that allows access to the new custom account feature, and the ability to work on the iPhone 5.

You probably can't pay a babysitter or dog walker through Manilla, unless they have an online payment system, but you can set bill-pay reminders and keep track of those expenses. Manilla also lets you securely pay your other bills online, track your spending, and store documents, all with one password. This saves you time and also saves paper.

The free app is available on iTunes and there's also one for Android devices on Google Play.
Manilla will soon launch an update to both apps that lets customers not only view their custom accounts but manage and edit them, too.
There are a number of other online tools and apps that can help you accomplish your financial goals and keep your expenses organized. Mint.com lets you set bill-pay reminders, too, plus track cash and credit purchases and set goals. PayDivvy.com lets you pay bills online from one account and split bills with family or friends.
Do you use any apps to keep your finances organized? Tell us in the comments.

3 apps for watching free network TV shows

4 Android apps for watching free TV shows Android tip: 3 apps for watching free network TV showsWant to watch full-length episodes of network TV shows like “The Good Wife,” “Gossip Girl,” “CSI:NY,” “Rescue Me,” and “Seinfeld” on your Android phone, for the low price of zero?
The good news is that you can watch recent episodes of “America’s Next Top Model,” “Late Night with David Letterman,” “Blue Bloods,” and several other shows on your Android phone, all without paying a dime.
The good news is that you can watch recent episodes of “America’s Next Top Model,” “Late Night with David Letterman,” “Blue Bloods,” and several other shows on your Android phone, all without paying a dime.

The bad news? The pickings are still a bit slim, especially compared to the iPhone and iPad.
So far, only CBS and The CW offer official Android apps with full-length episodes. NBC promises full episodes are “coming soon” to its Android app, but has yet to deliver. TNT and TBS stream full episodes through their respective Android apps, but only if you have an existing cable subscription. Meanwhile, ABC, Fox, and PBS are still missing in action as far as Android is concerned.
Still, there is at least some free network TV to be had for Android users, no subscription (cable or otherwise) required.
Two more caveats before we begin: First, we’re not (typically, anyway) talking complete seasons here; in general, expect a handful of the most recent full episodes. Second: get ready to sit through plenty of unskippable commercials.
So, ready to tune in? Let’s start with…

1. TV.com (Download)

Here’s you home for full streaming episodes (plus commercials, unfortunately) from CBS, including “The Good Wife,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “Blue Bloods,” and “CSI: NY.” Not bad, although I didn’t see any full episodes of such popular CBS shows as “The Big Bang Theory,” “NCIS,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Person of Interest,” or “The Mentalist.”
Also on tap are daytime soaps and game shows like “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Price is Right,” late-night laughs from David Letterman and Craig Ferguson, and snippets of shows from other CBS-owned networks like Showtime, The CW, and CNET.

2. The CW Network (Download)

The CW offers a generous helping of recent, full episodes from shows like “90210,” “Gossip Girl,” “America’s Next Top Model,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “Nikita,” “Supernatural,” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
TV com app for Android 168x300 Android tip: 3 apps for watching free network TV shows
TV.com for Android offers a smattering of free, full episodes of CBS shows like “The Good Wife” and “Late Show with David Letterman.”
You’ll also find plenty of brief video clips, photo galleries, Facebook and Twitter updates, and frequent commercial breaks.

3. Crackle (Download)

Lots of obscure and animated shows, but you’ll also find a few diamonds in the rough, like “Rescue Me,” “Seinfeld,” “Married with Children,” “Sanford & Son,” “All in the Family,” “The Dana Carvey Show,” and “Good Times.”
Also included: a grab bag of free movies, such as “Step Brothers,” “The Fifth Element,” “Boyz in the Hood,” “District 9,” “Stranger than Fiction,” plus plenty of grade-Z selections, like “Frankenfish,” “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The New Generation,” and “Vampires: The Turning.”
And yes—expect your view pleasure to be interrupted by ads, early and often.

Bonus tip

Not satisfied with the selection of apps above? You can always install the free Netflix and Hulu Plus apps for Android, which boast thousands of streaming TV shows for $8 a month. The Google “Play” store also offers à la carte TV shows that you can purchase and download to your Android handset.

9 Great iPhone Camera Apps

Supercharge Your iPhone's Camera. Without further ado, here are the apps:
Adobe Photoshop Express

Adobe Photoshop Express 2.0

Free. Camera Pack upgrade $4.99

Adobe knows something about image editing, and you get a taste of this expertise in this free app. But you'll need the $4.99 upgrade for full app functionality, and you get finer editing controls in Snapseed, and more effects in Instagram and Camera+.
AntiCrop

AntiCrop

$0.99

AntiCrop does one thing, but it's an interesting thing: Extend edges of your photos based on existing content. It's not perfect, but for 99 cents, it's a nifty tool for your iPhone photo kit.
Camera+ 2.4VS

Camera+ 2.4VS

$1.99

A beautifully designed iPhone camera enhancer, Camera+ gives you more shooting options and better image effects than you'll get with the native iOS Camera app. If you need even more image control, opt for Snapseed, and if you need more shutter options and sharing, head for Camera Genius.
CameraBag 1.4

CameraBag 1.9

$1.99

More limited than most apps here, CameraBag simply lets you remake your iPhone images to resemble various photographic styles, both retro and striking.
Camera Genius

Camera Genius 4.2

$1.99

Camera Genius adds some cool shooting and post-shot tools, some of which are matched by the slightly slicker Camera+. It's the only app here that can time and place stamp your images. It also lets you trigger the shutter using your voice, a timer, or when the image comes into focus. Camera Genius offers the most direct sharing options we've seen: to Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, Picasa, and Tumblr.
ColorSplash

Color Splash

99 cents

Color Splash does one thing, but does it well. It lets you easily create a striking photo by adding areas of color in an otherwise black-and-white image.
Hipstamatic for iPhone

Hipstamatic

$1.99

Hipstamatic shares some similarities to how some would characterize hipsters themselves: a lot of style but not much substance. There are much easier ways to get retro effects on your iOS photos and to share them, but the app is cleverly and stylishly crafted, and lets you pretend you're using a Kodak Instamatic from days gone by. One downside is the many in-app purchases are needed for new "gear."
Instagram

Instagram

Free

Instagram combines photo effects using a very clever interface with a captivating photo-centric social networking element. Though it only offers square photos, only on the iPhone, you can still share to other social networks, but its own is the real draw.
Snapseed

Snapseed

$4.99

In a clear, innovative interface, the master of photo correction, Nik, has produced the only iPhone app that approaches the power of desktop digital image editing software. Possibly the most powerful iPhone image-editing app around, Snapseed can do amazing thing with your phone photos, lets you then share them directly to the major social networks.

10 Essential iPhone Application

Bing
Free

Bing has long been the shining star among Internet search apps for iPhone, and as of iOS 6, there's even more reason to download and use it: maps. The loss of Google's map data behind the pre-installed Maps app on iPhone as of iOS 6 left a lot of users wanting to revert back to the old operating system. Bing gives you a solid and reliable mapping alternative, in an already great Internet search app, making it a multi-purpose machine.

Dashlane
Free to download; requires subscription

Dashlane is a simple and elegant password manager app for iPhone that also adds auto-complete so you don't have to retype the same information over and over again. Most importantly, Dashlane is extremely secure, keeping your information private and encrypted. Dashlane hits the sweet spot between security and laziness. Like any other password manager, all you need to use it is enough memory power to master one strong password for the app itself, and the rest is automatic. The app is free to download, but Dashlane costs $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year; or you can pay with loyalty-like points by referring friends who sign up for the service, too.

Evernote
Free

Everyone will tell you to download Evernote, but few are able to put into words why it is such an amazing service. The problem with convincing someone of Evernote's worth is it is a uniquely personal tool. Everyone uses it differently. To summarize, the free iPhone app synchronizes notes of all kinds, like text notes, audio recorded notes or voice memos, and pictures, and then makes them all highly searchable. It doesn't sound exciting, but the moment you figure out your own use case for Evernote, I swear you will never look for a replacement (the company highlights different use cases on the Evernote blog; do skim it). The app excels as a pared-down word processing program, and Evernote integrates with dozens of other iPhone apps. When it comes to staying organized, keeping track of ideas, and writing things down, Evernote for iPhone does the heavy lifting for you.

Facebook
Free

With Apple's iOS 6, you can use some features of Facebook right from your phone, like post a photo taken with your iPhone to your Timeline, without even installing the app. The dedicated Facebook app, however, will keep you connected to your social network more fully. Even if you're not enthralled by Facebook, many of your friends and family probably are, and they use it to share important information that you might need to know. Whether you're an avid Facebooker or just an occasional user, the app helps you stay on top of the people and events all around you, which is reason enough to download it and log on. And for the time being, it still doesn't have advertisements (at least not beyond sponsored content that shows up in your feed).

Find My iPhone
Free
Part and parcel of iOS 5 and Apple's iCloud , Find My iPhone needs to be installed and properly activated on your Apple device. It's crucial. Why? If your device is lost or stolen, Find My iPhone can locate it physically, on a map, to show you precisely where it is. If you misplace your phone and think it might be in the hands of someone you trust, you can log into the iCloud website from any computer or Internet connected device and send a message that will flash on the screen. If you think you misplaced it somewhere nearby, you can log in and force the phone to play a loud tone, even if it's set to silent. If you don't have Find My iPhone, you are not taking advantage of one of the best free features of iOS 5 and iOS 6. Be sure to read the few bits of information regarding set up and usage, as you have to enable geolocation services and a few other settings for it to operate properly.

flipboard

Flipboard
Free

Gorgeous, compelling to touch, and with a great selection of content, Flipboard assimilates all kinds of things you want to read—from online magazine articles to news to social updates from your network—and puts them into a winning format. You can sign up to receive articles from a good range of diverse sources, such National Geographic, Brain Pickings, The Economist, Lifehacker, Food 52, The New Yorker, and many others. Originally developed for the iPad (side note: Flipboard for iPad is an utter dream) and only later ported to the iPhone's smaller screen, the app schools most others in design. The iPad version still holds court, but Flipboard for iPhone is a prince.
onavo

Onavo
Free

Onavo reduces data usage on your iPhone, which means if you're traveling abroad or looking to pare down your data plan, it's an essential app. Easy to use and highly customizable, Onavo can significantly decrease data consumption with almost no work on your behalf. It works automatically, and it works well. If you're interested in data collection in general, Onavo will treat you to all kinds of statistics about how you're using your phone with comprehensive data reports. It has two shortcomings: 1) it doesn't support iPhone 4 on Verizon and 2) it doesn't compress streaming video.

Snapseed
$4.99

Snapseed was our Editors' Choice among iPhone camera apps for its non-destructive editing capabilities, powerful photo correction, localized adjustments, and many image-enhancing effects. Snapseed also works very well when it comes time to share photos, integrating with all the major social networks, and it sports a clear and innovative interface. Moreover, Snapseed is the only iPhone app that even approaches the power of desktop digital image editing software. At nearly $5, it's a bit more expensive than some other iPhone camera apps, but its power and features outshine the competition handily.
webmd

WebMD
Free
The free reference app WebMD is one you hope you won't ever need to consult, but the moment you do need it, you'll be glad you downloaded it. WebMD works as a diagnosis app, contains listings for healthcare professionals and pharmacies in your area, and also contains first-aid guides, or simple instructions for dealing with all kinds of emergencies. Shouldn't everyone have something like this on them at all times? Parents in particular should have this app, but, really, everyone ought to download a copy for those just-in-case moments.

Yelp
Free

I have a love-hate relationship with Yelp. There are aspects of Yelp, as a website and service that will always make me shake my head, but, as an app, it's still one of the most valuable tools available. While its utility varies from city to city—with even more unpredictable results beyond the urban landscape—Yelp pinpoints businesses by location, tells you if they're open right now, and gives you a rough estimation of whether they're places you need to go. Yelp's highly subjective user-written reviews should be read with more than a few grains of salt, but don't let that keep you from reaping the value of an excellent mobile service. When you need anything and you're in unfamiliar territory, Yelp can help.

20 Best iPhone Spy Apps

Ever imagined yourself as a character in a James Bond movie where the bad guys are lurking around corners waiting for the right opportunity to grab you and take you to their secret hideout? Okay, maybe not. But if you did, you’d probably have a lot of fun with today’s post, where we look looking into some apps made for spying with your iPhone.
Granted, having all of these apps on your iPhone will not make you a spy overnight – please don’t take it as challenge by us for you to behave that way – however, you might find some of the apps of the espionage kind here useful to you.

The mission here, if you choose to accept it, is to hunt for your very own iPhone spy app from this list. Some apps will be more useful than others, while others are just for fun. Then, there are some apps only available in the US as they only work with US mobile numbers. Don’t ask us why this is so, we’d ask but we’ve got a feeling that if they told us, they’d have to kill us!.

Contact Spy

Not sure who is behind the unknown number who just called you? Save that number into your contact list and run it through this search engine app, where It will then try to find out who called you. This feature only works for US phone numbers.
However, you can enter the first and last name of anyone you don’t know, and the app will try to find out who that person is. Of course this won’t give you the best results if the person’s name is ‘John Doe’. [$0.99]
Contact Spy

Call Log Pro

This app records the voice conversations of phone calls to another person. You’ll have to use the app to call the person and it will only start recording once the person on the line answers the phone. You’ll then be able to email yourself the recording for safekeeping.
This app starts out free where you can record conversations for 2 minutes. After that, you’ll have to pay a minimum of $4.99 for 30 minutes of recording time. [Free]
Call Log Pro

Spy Gizmos

Spy Gizmos gives you a fun and secure way to communicate with your friends. You can use this app to cipher messages and send the coded message to your friends. Your friends who received the coded message can then use this app to find out what was really written.
There are 3 ciphering methods to choose from. You can also write in Morse code where the app can then transmit the sound or flash your screen white and black so that people around you can hear or see the message. [Free]
Spy Gizmos

Self Destructing Message

Self Destructing Message (SDM) is a message app along the lines of Viber or Whatsapp. However, with this app you’ll be able to set ‘self destruct’ timers to your messages. Your friend will have 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 seconds to read the message that you sent. After that, the message ‘self destructs’ (gets deleted).
Because of this, there will be no chat history but it is a secure way to ensure no one else reads your messages. [Free]
Self Destructing Message

Your Secret Folder

This app acts like a secret folder to manage private photos and videos. It protects your files with either a 4 number PIN lock or a dot lock. The options they give you include taking a photo with the front camera when someone attempts to unlock the app. There is also the option to include a fake password.
Whenever this fake password is entered, functions to the app will be very limited, and whatever pictures taken with the app won’t be saved. [Free]
Your Secret Folder

GPS Location Tracker

This is a location tracker app for your iPhone which doesn’t have to be running to track your phone. You have to register for an account on their website and have Location enabled on the iPhone in order for it to track your phone.
It also uses cellular data or Wi-Fi to upload the location information to a secure server on their website. If there is no cellular data or Wi-Fi available, the information will be stored on the phone until there is a connection available. [$3.99]
GPS Location Tracker

Spy Recorder

Spy Recorder is an audio-recording app which also helps you schedule reminders for recordings. The phone will vibrate and a notification will appear, prompting you to start recording. You can start recording by tapping on the notification.
This can also be triggered with predetermined locations. You can also save the location data of each recording then attach and send via email. There is also the feature to pause between recordings, and set the recording duration. [$1.99]
Spy Recorder

Secret Voice

This is another voice-recording app but this app has a built-in web browser which you can use while it is recording. Besides that, you can enable a ‘Black-Screen Mode’ which prohibits activity on your phone, effectively tuning out any incoming calls or messages.
Recordings can be shared by email and are secured by a PIN code. There is also the option of recovery mode which allows you to recover accidentally deleted recordings. Without it, a delete stays permanent. [$0.99]
Secret Voice

Night Recorder

Launch this app and hit the ON button to begin. It will only start audio recording when there is a loud enough sound. When the iPhone screen is off, you can launch the app by pressing the iPhone power button.
It has 2 recording modes – more or unique files. If you select ‘more’ files mode, the recording will automatically stop if it doesn’t detect any sound. It will then record to a new file if there is another sound. A ‘unique’ file means it will record on one file non-stop once the recording starts, which will only stop when you press the on/off button in the app. [$2.99]
Night Recorder

Top Secret Audio Recorder

Top Secret Audio (TSA) Recorder works like a picture-viewing app where you swipe left and right to view different pictures. However, the app starts recording the moment you tap on the picture. You can add your own pictures or use the ones that came with the app.
Since there is no recording interface, no one will know that you are recording audio. You can also passcode lock your recorded files for added security. Files can then be shared or extracted through iTunes. [Free]
Top Secret Audio Recorder

Secret Spy Camera Pro

This camera app has a few functions so people won’t know that you are actually recording a video. While the camera is recording a video, you can enable ‘Spy Mode’ to make it look like you’re browsing a website.
There is also a ‘Secret Spy Mode’ where the screen only shows a black picture. To use it’s automatic-snap photo, just set intervals between each photo snap to take and let the app do the rest. [$1.99]
Secret Spy Camera Pro

Secret Camera

Another photo-taking app, but this one has no shutter sound. You can also set the photos to not have any preview mode. If you want a discreet preview mode, you can use ‘Spy Mode’: there is a small thumbnail at the bottom corner of your screen, while the rest of the screen looks like a web browser.
That way, no one will know you are really taking photos. You can also passcode lock your pictures and can enable ‘Recovery Mode’ to recover any photos that you accidentally delete. [$0.99]
Secret Camera

Night Vision Camera

This app makes you feel like a spy on a mission as you can choose different scopes to look through the camera of your iPhone. You can also choose from ‘Night Vision’ mode and ‘Infrared’ mode to make it seem like you’re on a mission. To take a picture, simply tap the bottom left corner button of the camera. [Free]
Night Vision Camera

ReconBot

ReconBot is a stealth video recording app that shows a black screen while it records a video. All your recordings can then be stored securely within the app which has a dot lock system. If you use the ‘Remote View’, you can watch your live recording on a unique website link on your computer. Recordings can be trimmed and shared via email. You can also enable location on your iPhone to determine where the recording happened. [$0.99]
ReconBot

Spy Cams

This app explores the feed from many live cameras around the world. It is not known how they have access to these cameras as nothing is stated on their app page. However, it is fun to scroll through security cameras from all around the world. You just might stumble across some interesting sights. [Free]
Spy Cams

Security Cam

This is another security recording app to make people unaware that your iPhone is capturing a video. The recording will begin if triggered by motion or sound. There is also the option to take photos every few seconds. The time and date will be shown on the recorded video. The files can then be emailed or exported through iTunes. [$9.99]
Security Cam

Camster 2

With this app, you’ll get a list of free public cameras that you can view. You can favourite any camera on the list if you find it interesting. Although there is the option to monitor your own network camera, it only works with the paid version of the app. [Free]
Camster 2

Live Cams Pro

Live Cams Pro is yet another app where you can view public cameras from all around the world. You are also able to add your own webcam and monitor it with this app. It supports a whole list of IP camera models which you can use to monitor your home in case you are going away on vacation for awhile or if you want to keep an eye on things at home, from the workplace. [$2.99]

This app is another app that has a map full of webcam cameras you can view. Not only that, you can control some of the cameras viewing angle (limited viewing angle) with on screen controls. You can also take a picture of the place you’re viewing and save it to your iPhone photo album. [Free]
